Jewel Scott

Dr. Jewel Scott is an assistant professor of nursing at the University of South Carolina. Her research aims to reduce and eliminate cardiovascular disease inequities through primary and secondary prevention strategies, particularly among young Black women. Her focus on disease prevention is rooted in her primary care experience in community health centers with uninsured and underinsured individuals in urban and rural communities. Dr. Scott is currently researching the impact of racial trauma and the COVID-19 pandemic on social networks and health behaviors of reproductive-age Black women in the South.
